Kasagi shrine was built in 986. Since ancient times, it has been a place to pray to the god of rain. The main shrine is on the top of Mount Kasagi and the entrance (which is also a small shrine in itself) to the shrine is at the foot of the mountain.
There are many megaliths in the vicinity of the main shrine, so it is thought that it was an ancient ritual site. Some of these megaliths are engraved with ancient letters as well (petrographs).
