Tochikubo terraced rice fields


The Tochikubo terraced rice fields were created in the 1700s and the current layout was completed in 1920. The beautiful stones used in the terraces are looked after and replaced by hand each year. This steep-sloped region is also famous for growing tea and “Yuzu” citrus fruit.
The area was certified as one of Gifu’s 21 terraced rice fields in 2009.
